Valley Community Bible Church is a gospel community on mission with King Jesus to our time and town and beyond. We believe the church exists in the world to display the glory of God in Christ Jesus our Lord through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our Lord Jesus Christ calls us as His disciples to live in this world by denying ourselves, taking up our cross daily, and following Him. We have been set free by the Truth of Jesus Christ in the gospel in order to live as His gospel people making the invisible Kingdom of God visible in the midst of this present darkness. We are not here to save our own life but to give our life away for Jesus' sake and the gospel's (Luke 9).
We believe the mission of the local church is not hard to understand: We exist as King Jesus' called out people in this world to glorify GOD by making more and better disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28; Mark 16:14-15; Luke 24:44-49; John 20:21; Acts 1:8). Our motto is: 'Outfitting People for GOD's Kingdom Purpose.' We hope to do this by helping people connect more deeply with Jesus and His Word, and as His New Covenant community. We also seek to equip them according to Christ's calling and gifting for the work of disciple-making ministry the Lord Jesus has for them. And we launch these disciple-making, radical disciples of Jesus Christ into our time and town in order to impact the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
This year (2012) our theme as a church is the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are working our way via preaching through the Gospel of John. We will be launching our main equipping vehicles - our Outfitting Fellowships - in order to devote ourselves to the teaching of the Word, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and prayer (Acts 2:42ff). These OF's will be organized to provide biblical fellowship, care, prayer, as well as "teaching us to obey all that Jesus commands." They will be organized by season of life and will meet starting February 6th during the Outfitting Hour on Sunday mornings. We will also be looking to provide further equipping through our Discipleship Ministries for Men, Women, Youth and Children.
Our main launch vehicles are our Gospel Communities and Ministry Teams. Our Gospel Communities are small groups that meet to live out the gospel in the context of biblical community, living together on mission with Jesus to our neighborhoods, networks, and to the Great Falls area. We will be training leaders in February and March and hope to launch at least some pilot groups in March/April. Those groups will all begin by doing a study called Gospel-Centered Living. We are also looking to launch a Prayer Ministry Team that will offer prayer after our Sunday Worship Services, to solidify our Sunday morning Hospitality Ministry Team, and to unify all our ministries and ministry teams around the mission and vision articulated above.
The Apostle Paul thanks the church in Philippi for their 'partnership in the gospel' (Philippians 1:5). We would be very excited if you choose to partner with us in this Christ-exalting, gospel-centered journey of discipleship. We invite you to partner with us as we seek, in word and life, to shine "the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ" (2 Corinthians 4:4) into our neighborhoods and networks, our time and town, and the world.
